Conservatory Chic

Maybe it's the beautiful weather outside or the rolling hills of farmland, but I am loving this whole conservatory chic look. It's a blend of earth, paris & vinatge all thrown together. Here are a few of my favorite wedding decor looks to pull this off.

Great way to do a seating chart - use a white craft marker on the mirror. Hang it outside from a tree paired with some vintage crystal chandeliers or clusters of old mason jars with candles hanging from twine.

A coffee & tea station can be a great & cheap way to give some layers to an outdoor event. Find old porcelian coffee cups or glass and place them on this vintage french cup stand.  Terrain, the amazing Anthropolgy owned shop outside of Philadelphia bakes their bread in terracotta pots.
 Fun way to serve bread at the reception.

A cheese station with herb encrusted gourmet chesse would be a fun appetizer.

Bouquet with my all time favorite flower, peonies. Herbs look great too.

Wreaths made of herbs or paper & can be brought home to use.

Perhaps a guest book concept??? hmmm. Have to think about that.

Lucy in the sky with Diamonds.....a Seattle wedding in the fall.

You may wonder how the soup can comes into play but to understand that you would have to know Lucy Pardey....now Lucy Campbell. Seen below in all of her wedding glory. She defines the word "fun" and has a way of being constantly happy and excited.

I met Lucy my junior year of high school in our theatre class. She was famous even back then. The only daughter of a professional poker player, she grew up in Vegas as the youngest of 3 very dynamic musician brothers. Lucy lit up a room, every room and made friends no matter where she was.

She moved to Alaska later on where she met her future husband, Jeremy, a deep sea diver and adventurist. After being stranded on a mountain in Alaska and being rescued by the Red Cross, he promptly went to the jewelry store & bought "the" ring. This was 2 days before my own wedding where Lucy played the part of maid of honor. Jeremy quickly flew to Florida with a plan of proposing. We decided to have the cake designer insert her real ring into the cake for the classic single girls ribbon pull. She had no clue what was going on until she heard his voice over the microphone. It was awesome!

They wed in a rustic barn overlooking a lake in a small town on a gorgeous property outside of Seattle, Washington in the fall.

I used a variation of sunflowers, herbs, lavendar and dahlias for the flowers.

The brothers; Ryan, Rod and Danny Vegas all showed up to see Lucy get married.

Ryan became a minister online so he could officiate the ceremony, Rod played "Lucy in the Sky in Diamonds" on guitar as she walked down the aisle and Danny played his signature song about Lucy at the

reception.

The rustic interior ceremony was created after some Seattle rain cancelled the outdoor plan. Rod sung her signature song as she carefully walked down the stairs in a gorgeous dress with a small train as we all cried.

Orchids, ahhhhh......

I love orchids & all the creative uses for them. They are simple and elegant and when a designer uses them right they are gorgeous. Stringing and hanging orchids is something I learned from doing tent weddings & beach ceremonies. Yes the labor part is tedious and orchids are more expensive, but the effect is well worth it. We strung orchids with crystals and hung them from chandeliers, arbors, and over food stations.

The picture above is from NY fashion week and the curtain of orchids is what greeted guests at a recent show in Central Park. Pretty amazing.

Where my love of orchids originated, The Wynn Hotel in Vegas. Belagio started the flower craze with the botanical gardens but the Wynn designers brought it to a whole new level with their simple cluster designs.

Another awesome hotel with great floral design is The Hotel inside Mandalay Bay in Vegas. This is one of my all time favorite hotels, they do everything elegant and simple.

Orchids are awesome flowers to submerge since their weight is equally proportionate.

Unique Cake Toppers

These are the cutest little cake people I have ever seen. Aside from my own fascination with all things little, these cake toppers are awesome. The best part is you get to select hair color, stain color, clothing color, bouquet color and base color options.
